It's a case of two-for-the-price-of-one, says BILL BRAY.
The double bill in our annual programme is becoming a regular fixture, a chance to see two contrasting plays in the same evening.
Arthur Smith is perhaps best known for his radio and TV work as a comedian, presenter and panellist in comedy shows. He has written sketches and comedy items before launching into longer plays. He had notable success with An Evening With Gary Lineker, and now we see his Trench Kiss, a comedy with a similar theme to the Back To The Future films directed by Robert Zemeckis, which draw their humour from the amazing changes in the styles of life between the first and second halves of the 20th century. Sometimes we take changes for granted, but here we are reminded of the rapid advances in the way we live and all presented in Arthur Smith's inimitably amusing fashion.
