It's a case of two-for-the-price-of-one, says BILL BRAY.
The double bill in our annual programme is becoming a regular fixture, a chance to see two contrasting plays in the same evening.
A play by Shelagh Stephenson, actress and playwright, who has had two full-length offerings in recent GWT seasons. Five Kinds of Silence, which was originally written for radio, winning the 1997 Writer's Guild Award for Best Original Radio Play, could hardly be more different from the first play in the programme. It is a dramatic study of patriarchal control in a family of women, which leads to murder. |
