Read about the Play
The double meaning of the title refers to the pop group of which Frank is the manager and Tom a singer. The two visit Sophie, Baroness Lemberg, a seaside fortune-teller, for professional consultation. Frank says Tom is trying to lure away his girl and asks for the fortune-teller’s help. Tom, however, sees through her attempts and reveals that Frank’s attitude rests on lies, as does his own situation. Tom leaves, Frank is distraught and reveals to Sophie the secret of his true relationship with his friend. Finally, Sophie herself reveals that her supposed title and high connections are lies. Lies, in fact, surround all the seedy trio.
