Originally produced by the RSC in the late 1970’s, at GWT in 1987 and more recently in London’s West End. Both a vivid record of a slice of showbiz history and politically astute Privates on Parade follows the trials and tribulations of an army song and dance company as they entertain the troops during the 1948  Malayan Emergency. Deliciously tatty light entertainment, enjoyably rude jokes, flamboyant outfits, many men in frocks are coupled with sudden jolting drama when violence flares.
