What is it we do exactly?

About the Geoffrey
Whitworth Theatre

At the GWT, our mission is “to undertake the production of acknowledged classics of all countries and ages and outstanding modern plays”. Founded in 1948, we have over 1000 members, supporting us from all over the country. Our theatre family is growing all the time, and we have a superb team of both on and offstage active members who bring our productions to life.

Our productions

Every year, we stage a broad range of productions, from cutting edge modern drama to well-known classics. We aim to make our seasons as diverse as possible so that everyone can enjoy our high-quality shows. For a list of current productions, please visit our What’s On page.

Our theatre

Our stage is bigger than some West End theatres, and our raked 150-seat auditorium allows excellent views so you can enjoy our shows wherever you’re sitting.

The fully licensed bar and coffee bar will see you through the evening, with the option to order interval refreshments before the show starts to avoid the queues!

Our theatre also offers wheelchair access and accessible facilities for those who may need them. There is also plenty of parking available in our free on site car park. Parking spaces for visitors with mobility conditions are also permanently available.
