Production synopsis Four young women, from very different backgrounds, sign up to join the Women’s Land Army during World War II.
This is the story, with music, of the backbreaking hours which they endured to do their bit for the war effort, pieced together from 150 letters and interviews with original Land Girls. It is a revealing, funny and wonderfully moving portrait of some of Britain’s pluckiest unsung heroes, and all interlaced with some of the most popular songs of the 1940’s, performed by the cast.
Maybe clothes full of mice and toilet rolls falling from the sky are just what it takes for these girls to get through.
Approximate running time 2¼ hours, including interval.
